Silica To Prevent Strength Retrogression

To boost strength retrogression protection for cement at temperatures exceeding 230°F (100°C), Al Moghera offers two silica additives. Both of our additives—one comprised of silica flour and the other of 100-mesh sand—have a minimum silica content (SiO2) of 98 percent; both feature silica of a particle size and crystalline nature suitable for preventing cement strength retrogression at high temperatures. These additives are typically dry-blended with the cement.

Benefits:

  • Extends the mechanical integrity of the cement over the life of the well
  • Provides higher initial compressive strength
  • Prevents cement strength retrogression that would otherwise lead to severe well integrity problems
