Cement Extenders

Cement extenders enhance slurry volume.

Cement extenders work to boost the volume of slurry produced from powdered cement. While generally used for overall cost savings, cement extenders are frequently used for other performance parameters, including the achievement of lower density (attained through lightweight extenders or through the tolerability of additional water). Low density is desired for the cementing of weak formations that can part during cementing operations and result in slurry loss. Al Moghera offers a range of oil and gas cement extenders that meet such performance requirements as lower density, lower cost, and more. Available in both powdered and liquid formulations, our cement extenders allow for the addition of larger quantities of mixed water to the slurry without causing excessive water separation.

Benefits:

  • Capable of producing thixotropic slurries for mitigating the threat of lost circulation
  • Accelerates cement setting time and enhances early compressive strength
  • Increases water-to-cement ratio to reduce cement density
  • Lowers free water in normal to heavyweight slurries
  • Achieves higher compressive cement strength than comparable slurry density extenders
