Expanding Additives

Achieve Improved Cement Bond Logs with Cement Expanding Additives

The quality of bonding between cement and formation and between cement and casings impacts both zonal isolation and the sustainability of a wellbore over time. The chemical tendency of cement to shrink as it sets (resulting in decreased bulk volume) impairs effective bonding and results in poor zonal communication, requiring costly remediation like cement squeeze jobs or workover operations. Al Moghera’s cement expanding additives promote cement expansion during setting, sealing off any micro-annuli that might occur between the cement and formation or the cement and casings, reducing the need for expensive remedial operations.

Our offerings include:

  • AEA-110 (for use in temperatures between 100-220°F)
  • AEA-111 (for use in temperatures between 220-400°F)

Benefits:

  • Supplies cement sheath with expansive stress properties that boost cement bonding with the formation and casing, increasing zonal isolation and improving wellbore sustainability
  • Blocks micro-annulus leakage
  • Eliminates shrinkage, preventing cement volume loss
  • Suitable for a range of well temperatures
  • Effective across a wide variety of slurry densities
  • Works with most mix waters (testing prior to use recommended)
